COLLOQUIUM ON FAMILY LAW
TOLEDO, SPAIN, Thursday, 11 October 2007
Its aim is to discuss recent developments in the field of family law from a comparative perspective and to enable the exchange of ideas on a European level.
The Colloquium is centred on three themes that are subject to academic discussion. The first theme is the role of pre-matrimonial agreements (marriage contract, division of assets) and their consequences for the case of divorce and separation. The second core topic will be the rights of children and the responsibilities owed to them. The divorce rate has increased over the last decade and many children grow up in a single parent or patchwork family environment. The topic includes custodial arrangements and children's emotional reactions and behaviour changes after the divorce. The third topic addresses the field of family and religion, as more and more married couples have different cultural backgrounds with different religious values and education.
